5. Climate-induced range shifts support local plant diversity but don’t reduce extinction risk｜Research

Wang 等人以 BioShifts、BIEN occurrence records、species distribution models、GCMs 與 species-specific range shift velocities 估計 67,664 種 vascular plants 至 2081–2100 年的風險。核心結論是：range shifts 對維持 local species richness 有幫助，卻無法大幅降低 global extinction risk；7–16% modeled plant species 於不同 emissions scenarios 下會進入 high extinction risk，而主要驅動因子是 climate-induced habitat loss，不是 dispersal limitation。這個結果對保育策略有明確含義：assisted migration 或 connectivity 不是無效，但若 suitable habitats 本身消失，移動能力再強也無法補救。政策焦點應放在 emissions reduction、climate refugia protection、ex situ conservation 與區域尺度轉型管理。
